Ulta Beauty Summer Hair Care

Ulta Beauty Summer Hair Care

For fixing hair that has had too much fun, in 60 seconds to 20 minutes. Danny Jelaca gives step by step beauty tips of how to look your best with any time frame.

Summer can leave you with dry, damaged hair. Sun, chlorine, salt water—even wind and air conditioning— all take a toll. Luckily, an arsenal of new products makes it easy to repair worn out, dull and dry hair. You don’t need to spend an evening doing a deep conditioning mask (though do indulge if you have the time)—we have solutions that work on the fly and as you style. From cool tools to rich oils, read on to find out how pampering stressed strands can work into any schedule.

If You’ve Got 60 Seconds

If you need a solution to smooth frizz and add shine before you run out the door, spray a leave-in conditioner on freshly washed strands. Try L’Oréal EverCreme Nourishing Leave-In Spray. “It’s great when you’re in a hurry because it only takes seconds to apply and it provides shine and moisture,” says Danny Jelaca, a Miami Beach stylist and salon owner. You don’t even need to do a blowout; you can apply it to wet hair and go with an air-dried beach look.

If You’ve Got 2 Minutes

Every woman should have an oil in her hair repair arsenal. Why? Your scalp produces oils that naturally condition your hair from the roots, but these oils never reach your ends. Therefore, the oldest hair that gets washed the most never reaps the benefits and is always the driest. That’s why Jelaca recommends putting it there yourself. Try applying a small amount of Redken Diamond Oil to your ends and see for yourself how it can transform damaged, dull hair.

If You’ve Got 5 Minutes

Heat styling is often the root (pardon our pun!) of the damaged hair problem, but flat irons coincidentally are also excellent for smoothing out on the fly, says Jelaca. So how can you go straight without doing more damage? Be sure to pass the flat iron over sections of hair evenly and fairly quickly, but going slow enough to straighten hair on one pass, not several. You can also look for low-heat flat irons such as the Coolway Flat Iron Starter Kit.

If You’ve Got 20 Minutes

Treat your hair to a deeper treatment weekly and try Ojon’s Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment. Don’t have quite that much time? With just five minutes, we like the ULTA Moisture &

Shine Moisture Mask. To boost effectiveness of either option, leave your hair in a hot towel (put it in the clothes dryer for 10 minutes) while the product does its job.
