“Hairstylist Danny Jelaca recently opened his salon at 500 South Pointe Dr. (Shops of the Portofino Tower). Jelaca, 43, previously served as styling director for elite model search and Stella Salon. (for 13 years). His clients include much well-known locals and celebs such as Madeleine Arison, Louis Aguirre, Jennifer Lopez, Rosalyn Sanchez, Padma Lakshmi and Ivanka Trump.
Originally from Chicago, Jelaca moved to South Beach in 1992 after graduating from the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota where he earned a degree in Liberal Arts. He has been featured in numerous publications and has done freelance fashion shows for designers including YSL, Dian von Furstenburg, Talbot Runhof and Robert Rodriguez.
Jelaca and his team styled the models for destination Fashion Pucci fashion show, November 30 at Bal Harbor shops. The event, which benefited The Fund to Cure Paralysis, was hosted by Madeleine and Micky Arison.
Jelaca says after working for others for years, he’s so thrilled to open his own salon. “It has always been my dream to show the entire concept,” he explains. “beyond the amazing and services we offer, its about the design and furnishings, treating people with the utmost care and attention to detail- it’s about the whole experience.”
The 1,000 -square-foot spaces (designed by Jelaca) features sleek white floors, sculpted cove ceilings, crystal chandeliers and grey leather tufted walls. Services include haircuts, styling, color, highlights, extensions, Keratin and Leonor Greyl conditioning treatments.
